The middle square
Three oversized beds are squares, and the Alberta King is the one in the middle: 12 in bigger each way than a Wyoming King (84 × 84 in), 12 in smaller each way than an Alaskan King (108 × 108 in). Its 64 sq ft of sleeping surface is 52% more than a King, by our calculation, or over 50% more sleep surface than a standard King
. It is designed as a bed for active sleepers and for families who co-sleep. Being square, it has no wrong way round: the mattress fits whichever way it is turned.

Why a King frame won't work, and neither will the next square
A King frame is built for 76 × 80 in: an Alberta King mattress would overhang it by 20 in across and 16 in at the foot. A California King frame (72 × 84 in) is 24 in too narrow and 12 in too short. The squares next door don't work either: a Wyoming King frame is 12 in short each way, and an Alaskan King frame is 12 in too big each way, which leaves the mattress sliding with a gap around it. Each square needs its own frame. Because the same 96 × 96 in mattress also goes by Vermont King, buy by the inches, not the name: our Alberta King mattress is made for this exact frame.
Slats, box spring and foam mattresses
The frame is a platform, so no box spring goes underneath. Its reinforced slats prevent sagging, and the wooden slats support most innerspring Alberta King-size mattresses
. For a memory foam mattress, a solid surface is needed so it cannot sink between the slats. Our Alberta King firm foam mattress is foam: ask us for the board with the frame, and we confirm its price by email before production. With 12.5 in of clearance underneath, there is room for flat storage boxes.

Wyoming, Alberta or Alaskan King frame?
The same aluminum platform, 16.5 in high, comes in all three squares, so the choice is about your room. By our calculation, with 30 in of walking space on each side and at the foot, the Wyoming King bed frame needs a 12 × 10 ft room, the Alberta King frame 13 × 11 ft and the Alaskan King bed frame 14 × 12 ft. If your headboard wall is between 13 and 14 ft, the Alberta King is the biggest square that fits. If you need width for a family more than length, the Florida King frame is 108 in wide at King length. Every size side by side: bed size chart.

Alberta King bed frame: your questions answered
What size is an Alberta King bed frame?
It holds a 96 × 96 in (244 × 244 cm) mattress, an 8 ft square. Ours measures 96 × 101.5 in overall with the headboard, which is included, and stands 16.5 in high.
Is an Alberta King the same as a Vermont King?
Both names are used for the same 96 × 96 in size. Whatever the name, check the inches: an Alberta King frame needs a mattress of exactly 96 × 96 in.
Can I use a King or Alaskan King frame for an Alberta King mattress?
No. A King frame (76 × 80 in) is 20 in too narrow and 16 in too short. An Alaskan King frame (108 × 108 in) is 12 in too big each way, so the mattress would slide and leave a gap.
How big a room does an Alberta King bed frame need?
About 13 × 11 ft for our frame, by our calculation: its 96 × 101.5 in overall size plus 30 in of walking space on both sides and at the foot. That is 1 ft more each way than a Wyoming King frame, and 1 ft less than an Alaskan King frame.
Does an Alberta King bed frame need a box spring?
No. Ours is a platform with slats, so the mattress sits directly on it. For a foam or latex mattress, a solid board over the slats is recommended: ask us and we confirm its price by email before production.
How much weight can an Alberta King bed frame hold?
Our aluminum platform frame is rated for up to 2,000 lb.
How is an Alberta King bed frame delivered?
Free shipping from the USA: we email your delivery date within 1 business day. It arrives in 5 to 7 boxes, free to the curb in the contiguous US by UPS Ground or freight truck. In-home delivery and white-glove assembly are available: ask us for a quote before you order.
How much does an Alberta King bed frame cost?
Ours is $7,669, with the headboard included and free curbside delivery in the contiguous US.
